St. Josephine Bakhi­ta (1869 – 1947) is the patron saint of Sudan and of human traf­fick­ing sur­vivors. Born in Dar­fur, Sudan, her feast day is 8 Feb­ru­ary. St Bakhi­ta has become the uni­ver­sal sym­bol of the Church’s com­mit­ment against traf­fick­ing in persons.
