In JanÂuÂary 2017, UNGA PresÂiÂdent Peter ThomÂson appointÂed CatherÂine Boura, PerÂmaÂnent RepÂreÂsenÂtaÂtive of Greece, and Alya Ahmed Saif Al-Thani, PerÂmaÂnent RepÂreÂsenÂtaÂtive of Qatar, as co-facilÂiÂtaÂtors to conÂsult with MemÂber States on the prepaÂraÂtions for this high-levÂel meetÂing. The resultÂing modalÂiÂties resÂoÂluÂtion (A/RES/71/287), adoptÂed on 4 May 2017, sets the date for 27–28 SepÂtemÂber 2017.
In accorÂdance with GA resÂoÂluÂtion 71/287 on the “ModalÂiÂties, forÂmat and orgaÂniÂzaÂtion of the high-levÂel meetÂing of the GenÂerÂal AssemÂbly on the appraisal of the UnitÂed Nations GlobÂal Plan of Action to ComÂbat TrafÂfickÂing in PerÂsons”, a High-LevÂel MeetÂing of the pleÂnary of the GenÂerÂal AssemÂbly will be conÂvened to appraise progress achieved in the impleÂmenÂtaÂtion of the GlobÂal Plan of Action to ComÂbat TrafÂfickÂing in PerÂsons (ResÂoÂluÂtion 64/293), in order to assess achieveÂments, gaps and chalÂlenges, includÂing in the impleÂmenÂtaÂtion of the relÂeÂvant legal instruments.
