Our Vision:
CLW views ChiÂnese workÂersâ rights as inalienÂable human rights and is dedÂiÂcatÂed to workÂersâ fair share of ecoÂnomÂic develÂopÂment under globalization.
Our MisÂsion:
CLW increasÂes transÂparenÂcy of supÂply chains and facÂtoÂry labor conÂdiÂtions, advoÂcates for workÂersâ rights, and supÂports the ChiÂnese labor movement.
FoundÂed in 2000, ChiÂna Labor Watch (CLW) is an indeÂpenÂdent not-for-profÂit 501(c)(3) orgaÂniÂzaÂtion. Over the past 17 years, CLW has colÂlabÂoÂratÂed with unions, labor orgaÂniÂzaÂtions, and the media to conÂduct in-depth assessÂments of facÂtoÂries in ChiÂna that proÂduce toys, bikes, shoes, furÂniÂture, clothÂing, and elecÂtronÂics for some of the largest multiÂnaÂtionÂal brand comÂpaÂnies. CLWâs New York office creÂates reports from these invesÂtiÂgaÂtions, eduÂcates the interÂnaÂtionÂal comÂmuÂniÂty on supÂply chain labor issues, and presÂsures corÂpoÂraÂtions to improve conÂdiÂtions for workers.
CLWâs ChiÂna office in ShenÂzhen interÂacts closeÂly with facÂtoÂry workÂers, proÂvidÂing a free hotÂline serÂvice that offers advice and counÂselÂing to workÂers facÂing perÂceived vioÂlaÂtions in the workÂplace. This office also furÂther supÂports the labor moveÂment in ChiÂna by orgaÂnizÂing labor rights, colÂlecÂtive barÂgainÂing, and capacÂiÂty-buildÂing trainÂing proÂgrams for workÂers and labor rights advocates.
